How It Works

How does a Blizzard Bag Filter 50 work
The contaminated air enters the Blizzard 50 via the air pipe (or gas pipe) into the dirty chamber. After that, the dust particles settle onto the bags while the cleaned air passes through the round bags and enters the clean chamber. The cleaned gas exits the filter with the help of a fan to the outside or back into the facility.

Specification

The performance specification depends on the package elements. We create each project customized for the client bases on a detailed questionnaire on their industrial site and the nature of the dust.

Modifications, Size, and Drawings

A modification is a filter variation with a different quantity of modules. Adding modules entails a change in general performance, filtered air volume, dimensions, and other specifications.

The Blizzard Bag Filter 50 consists of one or multiple modules.

The recommended performance of a single module is no more than 29500 cfm and in order to increase the performance of the baghouse, it is recommended to install additional modules.

A filter can optionally be designed with non-typical dimensions depending on the client’s technical task.

Baghouse Design and Diagram

Movement Scheme of gas inside and outside the filter
  1. Air enters by way of the space under the bag via the gas entry flange and hits the shutter dampers, after which the air continues into the dirty chamber where the filter bags are. Such a design helps the client save on the filter diameters.
  2. Highly charged and heavy particles are reflected off the shutter dampers located above the gas and air entry point and they fall into the hopper.
  3. Air containing fine dust particles passes through to the bags into the dirty air chamber and then into the clean air chamber via the bags while the dust falls to the perimeter.
  4. After that, the air passes up into the clean air chamber and exits the filter.
  5. Located above are hatches for changing out the filter bags, which are necessary to replace, diagnose, and repair them.
  6. An additional diagnostic hatch is located at the end of the filter.

Round Filter Bags

The Blizzard Bag Filter 50 is equipped with round bags. Filters of this type are a little bigger in dimension and heavier than those with flat bags. This is due to the fact that when round bags are used, a larger internal space has to be created for the bags to be arranged in and gas dynamic laws have to be observed as well.

Round filter bags withstand a large-sized dust load of up to 120 ppm, in some cases even up to 150 ppm.
Round filter elements come in many different forms, types, and diameters. Up to 4-5 meters in length, no Venturi tube is required, and, instead, flow nozzles are used. At a length of over 5 meters, we can recommend using a variety of nozzles for more efficient filter element cleaning.

The material for filter bags is chosen on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the technical task.

Contaminated Air Entry: Shutter Dampers

In the Blizzard Bag Filter 50 filter, entry of contaminated air takes place through the space underneath the bag with shutter dampers.

The main advantage of a shutter damper is that when the air enters the filter, it “collides” with the shutter and disperses evenly along the filter elements, reducing the level of wear, as well as providing an even level of wear over the filter elements.

Installing shutter dampers provides a basis to save space in the dust extracting installation. Having a shutter damper in the baghouse provides a way to operate dust containing medium-sized and large particles which end up in the hopper right away after colliding with the shutter grid.

This is the cheapest version option in the Blizzard Bag Filter 50 compared to the other ways of arranging contaminated air entry via damper plates or a side entrance.

The Dust Hopper and Unloading It

In the standard package, the Blizzard Bag Filter 50 has a conical accumulation reservoir for dust and a round sealer with a hand lever for opening and closing or a box on wheels.

Additional hopper package
  • A vibrator or a vibrator installation to prevent dust from sticking to the hoppers walls.
  • Level transmitter
  • Hoppers and supports based on your enterprise’s order. For instance, we included a hopper that unloads into big bags for our wood-processing enterprise client.
  • The hopper with a worm under the bag for uninterrupted unloading of dust from the hopper with a flood hatch. In this case, the filter won't have to be stopped in order to unload the accumulated dust.

Unloading the Captured Product

Methods for the client to choose from for organizing unloading

  • The basic package involves the use of a manual method. A manual flow gate is used, and after it is manually opened, dust unloads out of a dust reservoir into a container or, other times, the container (box) the dust falls into can be connected to the filter without a flow gate.
  • The automated method: a flood gate or a double flap is used for unloading, often together with a worm transporter.
The main difference arises when it comes to manual labor needing to be exerted to unload the captured product. The automated method can be tied into a production chain and, for instance, the product can be returned back onto a conveyor belt.

Managing the Baghouse

Smart control automation guarantees uninterrupted operation

Control of the filter is performed using a controller or a remote-control device. This system operates in a closed cycle, but it can be reconfigured depending on the client's needs.
We propose packaging the filter along with a system entailing completely automatic control, analysis, and fire extinguishing. A time controller is installed in the standard package and a Siemens controller can also be part of the package, depending on your needs.

Pneumatic Cleaning System

Periodically filtered bags get covered with dirt, which increases the filter’s resistance. In order for the system to work in an uninterrupted fashion without any pressure differentials, the bags need to be cleaned. Cleaning is done in the following way:
  1. On top, there are air pipes in the clean air chamber which start from the air system's diaphragm valves. These valves are installed for the receivers where the compressed air is kept, which is used for pulse jet.
  2. The air is submitted from the compressor to these receivers. Periodically, the valve begins operation and the air is submitted to the air pipe via the valve and then out of the air pipe with the help of the nozzles and is distributed inside the filter bag.
  3. The filtered bag is shaken and aired out while the dust falls down into the hopper accumulator from the filter bag.
  4. The dust can be extracted from the hopper accumulator in three different ways, depending on the technical task envisaged: the manual dust latch, a mechanical “double flap”, and an automatic “flood hatch”. The standard version has a manual dust latch included.

Pulse Jet Cleaning System Package:

Compressed air receiver package
It is the receiver that accumulates air for the pulse jet. If there isn't enough air, the degree of cleaning will fall, the wear on the filters will increase, and the filter’s performance will fall, since the aerodynamic pressure of the filter will increase. The receiver has a flanged socket for connecting to the compressor or the general factory compressed air pathway, as well as a moisture drain valve. If “Blizzard” isn't installed in a heated facility, we recommend installing an oil and water separation, thermal, and air heating system.

Air pipe system
These are either metallic or plastic. Everything depends on the gas and temperature that the Blizzard Bag Filter 50 filter is cleaning. Nozzles are installed on the air pipes for more efficient cleaning of the filter element.
Air valves
All our valves are certified. Our valves are specialized for filter equipment air cleaning systems.

Controller
Controlling the regeneration system is implemented with the help of a special controller that configures the impulse quantity and the frequency of them.

Differential manometer (by order)
Then bag cleaning can not only originate based on time but also in terms of the degree of the bags’ “contamination”. When the bags fall, the pressure in the filter changes and the manometer submits a signal to implement the draft. The differential manometer will also show an accident if one or more of the bags is ruined.
