Wet Scrubber BOREAS-P2 Description

BOREAS-P2 Wet scrubber with a horizontal mass-exchange chamber with random packing, such as Raschig, Palia, Intalox, Torch-Air, and other rings inside.
A compact wet scrubber with convenient maintenance, it is suitable for air cleaning of most acids, alkali, and mixtures of them.

Substances Captured by the Gas Scrubber

Wet scrubber captures various dusts 0.1 µm in size or larger.
In order to capture smaller elements, we recommend various supplements, such as caustic soda etc. The supplements are selected on a case-by case basis depending on the air and gas mixture in the client's operation environment.

The Working Principle of BOREAS-P2

How does a BOREAS-P2 work
BOREAS-P2 has several watering layers with the help of nozzles (from 1 to 5 depending on the performance level). Contaminated gas enters into the entry packing chamber where it is watered with liquid (water or a solution) both in and against the direction of the gas. That has a positive effect on the mass-exchange processes and increases the amount of contact between the liquid and the contamination.

The packing chamber is completely filled with a special random packing, such as Raschig, Palia, Intalox, and other rings. The random packing has a complex shape, so gas passes through it in labyrinth pathways which increases the cleaning efficiency. While the gas passes through the packing, liquid is fed into it and a mass-exchange process takes place between the liquid and the gas. The liquid holds up (absorbs) the contamination and is sent into a tank. The clean air passes through the highly efficient labyrinth droplet eliminator and is extracted out of the wet scrubber.
The type of packing is selected depending on the technical task of the client. Also, depending on the technical task, choices are to be made regarding the type of liquid watering system, tank liquid discharge, liquid neutralization system, drop capturing method, and automation.

Then the contaminated moisture-containing air enters the highly efficient labyrinth droplet eliminator where the air is separated from the heterogenous fraction with the water. The air then continues on and exits the wet scrubber. The liquid component enters the recirculation tank where it is separated from the debris. Then, the liquid is subsequently fed back into the wet scrubber along the circulation system and is reused.

The Specifications depend on the package elements. For each client, we create a project based on a detailed survey about the production site and the nature of the dust and contaminations.
The wet scrubber can optionally be designed in a non-standard execution, depending on the technical task of the client.

You can choose any option based on the convenience of the wet scrubbers’ positioning:
1. Location of packing loading doors: you need to choose them to be on the side or at the top.
2. Gas flow: you need to indicate the most convenient location for cleaned air’s exit out of the wet scrubber: on the right or the left.

Modifications, Size, and Charts

A modification is a filter variation with a different quantity of modules. Adding modules entails a change in general performance, filtered air volume, size, and other technical specifications . BOREAS-P2 consists of one or multiple modules.

The recommended performance of a single module is no more than 23500 cfm. In order to increase the performance, it is required to install additional modules (see example in drawing below).

A filter can optionally be designed with non-typical size depending on the client’s technical task.

Controlling the Wet Scrubber

Variations of control equipment package elements
  1. Manual control: the most affordable and inexpensive method.
  2. Semiautomatic: control on a temporary relay, preparation of a solution, and manual pouring of the solution.
  3. Automatic, time-based control, or regulated cycle control, determined by the client. Automatic preparation and dosing of the reagent solution.
In the standard package, the wet scrubber is automated at a minimal level – with transmitter level, pump activation, and pH monitoring.
For a higher level of automation, we can offer you:
  • Automatic refilling and discharge of the reagent
  • Automatic reagent preparation
  • Automatic water activation/deactivation
  • Connecting the automatic contact to the controller and pH meter.
