The TORNADO T-RP Dual-Stage Scrubber is a compact two-stage gas cleaning system combining a sieve tray scrubber and a packed-bed scrubber in a single column. It efficiently removes dust and gaseous contaminants, with a capacity of up to 30,000 cfm, and can be customized to the specific requirements of each customer. The second stage features automated H₂SO₄ dosing and pH control, ensuring stable performance with minimal operator intervention.

Both stages can also be irrigated with different solutions, for example, the first stage with water and the second with an acid or alkali solution. This is achieved by installing special trays inside the scrubber that collect the liquids.

The Working Principle of TORNADO T-RP Dual-Stage

General scheme

The first stage
Initially is gas flow distribution. Deflectors will be installed at the scrubber inlet to ensure maximum uniform distribution of the gas inside the scrubber. The description of the construction goes from bottom to top.

After that, the contaminated air will pass through a sieve tray. In first stage of treatment, the polluted air flows through a perforated tray, where bubbling occurs as the gas passes through the holes in the sieve tray. This creates a so-called “foam” zone, where contaminant particles are captured. The maximum dust load is up to 15 grams per cubic meter of gas.

Next is a layer of spray nozzles for irrigating the sieve tray. Scrubbing solution – plant water, once through without circulation, 30–130 GPM.

After that, there is a mist eliminator layer for the sieve tray.

Next, we move higher up, where we have a tray that separates the two scrubber stages. To prevent liquid from the packed-bed section from flowing down into the previous stage, we use a special tray, as shown in the image below.

Next is a layer of spray nozzles for irrigating the packed-bed. Scrubbing solution – aqueous H2SO4 solution with circulation, pH control and automated dosing of concentrated H₂SO₄ solution.

After that, there is a mist eliminator layer for the packed-bed.

The Specifications depend on the package elements. For each client, we create a project based on a detailed survey about the production site and the nature of the dust and contaminations.
Each wet scrubber can optionally be designed in a non-standard execution, depending on the technical task of the client.

Controlling the Wet Scrubber
