Torch-Air mesh pad mist eliminators, also called demister pads, are separating elements installed in scrubbers, packed towers, absorption columns, separators and mist eliminator housings. They remove liquid droplets, aerosols and fine mist from industrial gas streams.
The pad is made of structured mesh media. Its three-dimensional fiber arrangement forces the gas to change direction continuously, so droplets are captured by impaction, interception and coalescence. Captured droplets merge into larger drops that drain by gravity, back to the process or to a drain, depending on the equipment.
Each pad is designed for the operating conditions of the application. Media density, fiber diameter, pad thickness and material are selected to balance collection efficiency, pressure drop, fouling resistance and service life. Pads are supplied for new equipment and as replacements in existing vessels.
This page covers the pad as a component. For a complete in-line unit with housing, flanged connections, access door and drain, see the
OPTIMINATOR two-stage mist eliminator.
