Wet Scrubber Description

The "TORNADO-SP” wet scrubber with vertically positioned column mass-exchanging with structured packing inside (netted filter, gridded packing, sponge packing, etc.) and an automatic irrigation system. The structured packing takes up less space in the column, so the wet scrubber turns out to be more compact. The lowest aerodynamic resistance out of all the scrubbers. Increased cleaning efficiency. Due to the more complex design and higher efficiency, the “TORNADO-SP” costs more.
It is designed for wet dust cleaning of dust, smoke, acids, alkalis, and other mixtures.
We supply them both as packages and separate parts of the “TORNADO-SP” complex.

Low aerodynamic resistance
The well-thought-out design of the filter facilitates the passage of a large air flow to be cleaned.
Dust load of up to 3 ppm

Fundamental Distinctions From Other Models

Structured packing are used
Fewer packings are required than in “TORNADO RP” with random packing to provide for the same efficiency.
The scrubber has lower aerodynamic resistance and thus it requires a fan with lower pressure. The ability to save on fan power and thus its power consumption.
Structured packing gets less stopped up with dust and it doesn't need to be cleaned and maintained as often.

Substances Captured by the Gas Scrubber

Wet scrubber captures various dusts 0.1 µm in size or larger. The wet scrubber is highly effective in capturing various types of dust, including but not limited to wood dust, metal dust, graphite dust, concrete dust, aluminum dust, and more.
In order to capture smaller elements, we recommend various supplements, such as caustic soda etc. The supplements are selected on a case-by case basis depending on the air and gas mixture in the client's operation environment.

The Working Principle of Tornado Scrubber

The “TORNADO-SP” wet scrubber has a layer of packings, which are located in support distribution grids. The packings have a branched surface which creates a contact phases area that gas passes through and at the same time they are irrigated by water or another solution. During operation, the “TORNADO-SP” packing is in the form of a dense layer. structured packing can be used as a packing (netted filter, gridded packing, sponge packing, etc.).

Contaminated gas enters the entry chamber. Then, following up to meet the fresh washing liquid flow, the gas-liquid emulsion subsequently passes through an fixed-bed layer where connection of the gas phase component occurs with the liquid phase. Subsequently, gas-liquid the mixture enters the droplet eliminator volume where they are separated from each other. The liquid phase (dirty) flows into a circulation cavity (for subsequent use or removal) and the cleaned gas together with the removed liquid drops goes into the droplet eliminator. Modifications, Size, and Charts

A modification is a filter variation with a different quantity of modules. Adding modules entails a change in general performance, filtered air volume, size, and other technical specifications .

The wet scrubber consists of one or multiple modules.

The recommended performance of a single module is no more than 30000 cfm. In order to increase the performance, it is required to install additional modules (see example in drawing below).

A filter can optionally be designed with non-typical size depending on the client’s technical task.

Scrubber Design

The "TORNADO-SP" is a packed column scrubber with a vertical design, incorporating internal supporting grids on which fixed-beds are positioned. The irrigation system consists of one or multiple stages with packings installed inside the frame.

Controlling the Wet Scrubber

Variations of control equipment package elements
  1. Manual control: the most affordable and inexpensive method.
  2. Semiautomatic: control on a temporary relay, preparation of a solution, and manual pouring of the solution.
  3. Automatic, time-based control, or regulated cycle control, determined by the client. Automatic preparation and dosing of the reagent solution.
In the standard package, the wet scrubber is automated at a minimal level – with transmitter level, pump activation, and pH monitoring.
For a higher level of automation, we can offer you:
