Fluidized Bed Scrubber Description

Universal industrial liquid-cleaning fluidized bed scrubbers and a vertical mass-exchanging column
The “TORNADO FB” wet scrubber is an unit with a hollow frame for dust without a tendency to stick. Gas entry occurs tangentially, which allows for dust to be sent straight down into the hopper (water-setting tank).
The packing is floating-type and moves upon interaction with air flow. That facilitates an increase in the boiling layer, foam formation, and an increase in the degree of contamination coming in contact with the liquid. All of this leads to higher-quality gas cleaning.
Straightforward maintenance and operation
The wet scrubber’s design is done is such a way that maintenance via hatches and doors takes a minimal amount of time
Produced from different types of steel and plastic
We select the material depending on the chemical contents of the gas and the gas’ temperature. Stainless steel or carbon steel. Polypropylene plastic, polyethylene, PVDF, etc.

Improved Design for Customized Tasks From the Client

Optional unconventional design
The design, size, and productivity level can be modified depending on the client's wishes. It comes with a broad selection of additional package elements.

Modular Design is Our Main Area of Expertise

Increase efficiency by way of adding an additional filter module.
Large-node, bolt-mounted assembly is performed based on instructions like when assembling furniture. No welding or complex manipulations necessary.
Thanks to the modular design, delivering the filter doesn't require any special transportation and takes less time.
Quick efficiency modernization
Quick and easy installation
Quick and easy transportation

Smart Design: High Quality, Efficient Air Cleaning

High aerodynamic resistance
Provides high cleaning efficiency
Dust load of up to 30 ppm
To increase the dust load, a cyclone will have to be placed in front of the equipment.
Gas load of up to 5 ppm
There can optionally be more, but that will require size to be increased.
High tolerance of fluctuating loads
Stability in maintaining a high level of cleaning, efficiency, and temperature variations over the course of the wet scrubber's operation.
Minimal waste substances
The air cleaning process creates practically no waste. It doesn't get stopped up with a variety of substances. Furthermore, there is almost no water entrainment.

Substances Captured by the Gas Scrubber

The wet scrubber excels in capturing dust particles of 0.1 µm or larger, making it an ideal choice for effectively handling dust from various sources such as wood, metal, graphite, concrete, aluminum, and other materials. Additionally, its versatile design renders it suitable for boiler applications, further extending its range of utility.
In order to capture smaller elements, we recommend various supplements, such as caustic soda etc. The supplements are selected on a case-by case basis depending on the air and gas mixture in the client's operation environment.

The Working Principle of Fluidized Bed Scrubber

How does a Tornado FB work
The “TORNADO FB” has multiple layers of packings (usually two or three) situated on support-distribution grids. In the upper part of each level of filtration is a limiting grid with a large open section. The grid impedes the wear of floating beds from the unit.
The packing can be pseudo reduced or vibrate without sticking to the limiting grid when the velocity of the gas changes within a broad range. In its operation, the “TORNADO FB” packing is in the form of a thick floating layer or an intensely cut layer (depending on the type and nature of the gas cleaned). The velocity of the gas is 10-20 ft/s.
Plastic and resin spheres may be used as the packing with a diameter of up to 4 inches and a density of 1 to 55 lb/ft³. The velocity of the gas in the unit can vary from 5 to 30 ft/s; its irrigation density is from 16 to 650 ft/hour.
The contaminated air enters the chamber for it to be accepted tangentially. Meanwhile, the gas, in completing a rotary movement, leads into a rotary movement and an accumulation liquid in the entry chamber, part of which enters the airlift pipe along with the gas.
Then, following up to a flow of washing liquid, the gas and liquid emulsion subsequently continues through the openings of the grid and the annular space between the cone and the wall of the “TORNADO FB” frame, the layer of the floating bed, grid, and floating bed layer. Subsequently, the liquid-gas mixture enters the volume of the perforated diffuser where they separate from each other. Meanwhile, the liquid phase (dirty water) flows into the circulation capacity (for subsequent use or removal) and the cleaned gas into the droplet separator along with the liquid drops being carried away. After that, the clean air exits the “TORNADO FB” to the outside.

Specifications

The Specifications depend on the package elements. For each client, we create a project based on a detailed survey about the production site and the nature of the dust and contaminations.
Each filter can optionally be designed in an unconventional fashion, depending on the technical task of the client.

Modifications, Size, and Charts

A modification is a filter variation with a different quantity of modules. Adding modules entails a change in general performance, filtered air volume, size, and other technical specifications .

The fluidized bed scrubber consists of one or multiple modules.

The recommended performance of a single module is no more than 70000 cfm. In order to increase the performance, it is required to install additional modules (see example in drawing below).

A filter can optionally be designed with non-typical size depending on the client’s technical task.

Wet Scrubber Design

“TORNADO FB” entails a vertical column with nozzles inside in several layers for gas irrigation. The irrigation system consists of several stages with nozzles installed inside the “Tornado” scrubber frame. The nozzles are positioned in such a way that the water washes gas from all possible directions. Installed at the top of the machine is a droplet eliminator.

Controlling the Wet Scrubber

Variations of control equipment package elements
  1. Manual control: the most affordable and inexpensive method.
  2. Semiautomatic: control on a temporary relay, preparation of a solution, and manual pouring of the solution.
  3. Automatic, time-based control, or regulated cycle control, determined by the client. Automatic preparation and dosing of the reagent solution.
In the standard package, the wet scrubber is automated at a minimal level – with transmitter level, pump activation, and pH monitoring.
For a higher level of automation, we can offer you:
  • Automatic refilling and discharge of the reagent
  • Automatic reagent preparation
  • Automatic water activation/deactivation
  • Connecting the automatic contact to the controller and pH meter.
